Did you know that Anorexia ( which is an emotional disorder driven by the obsessive desire to lose weight by refusing to eat) has the highest fatality of any mental illness? Not only does it have the highest fatality rate- but the mortality rate for females associated with this illness is 12 times higher than the death rate of ALL other causes of death!
This is seriously a very destructive problem- and yet it seems so secretive.
In 2005, the National Institutes of Health estimates that research funding for those affected by schizophrenia averaged $159.00 per individual, and for those affected by eating disorders only $1.20 were spent. And yet- anorexia has a 12 times higher death rate than all other causes of death!
